PLASTECO in line with the “European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy”, will support participating territories to take the steps necessary for a transition towards a “new plastics economy”.

The Municipality of Rethymno and the Sports Department have organized three (3) road races for athletes, non-athletes, children, disabled people and Special Olympics athletes under the auspices of the Rethymno Regional Unit in collaboration with SYN POLIS (ΣΥΝ ΠΟΛΙΣ) in order to provide more opportunities for sports activities.

The Municipality of Rethymno and the Department of Sport aiming on the one hand at the provision of additional opportunities and motives for sport participation for the inhabitants of the Municipality (Mass Sport) and on the other hand at the promotion of the city of Rethymno to the foreign visitors (Sports Tourism) proclaims the 4th Beach Running. The event will take place in the context of the European mobility week (16 – 22 September) and in the context of the European program “HORIZON 2020 – CIVITAS DESTINATIONS” for the promotion of the sustainable mobility in tourist destinations.

The Municipality of Rethymno, in the framework of actions promoting sport activities in the town, organized the second edition of the Rethymno Beach Running.

Local and tourists, amateurs and professional athletes were invited to take part to the 5 km race that took place on Sunday 14th July 2013 at 8.30 am along the beautiful sandy beach of the town.

The event was a chance for everyone to experience one of the most natural and healthy sport in the world, spending a joyful and active sunday morning on the beach.
